November 14th, 2015 was an important day to many youth leaders who partake in Special Olympics. On this day the YES Project Unify Youth and Educators summit was held to enrich Project Unify leaders on how to provide equality and inclusion for Special Olympics Athletes.

The Summit was held at Hough High School located within the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District. It started promptly at 10:00 am with a welcoming ceremony where educators and leaders got the opportunity to meet the CEO of the Special Olympics of North Carolina and both of the district coordinators. Standing alongside with them were student leaders who have demonstrated outstanding performance within the organization.

After the ceremony, the group was divided up into smaller groups where they did activities to gain ideas from eachother on how to create a better project unified environment. Youth leaders were able to communicate and learn other ideas and how they can incorporate them into their school. Later, after a nice lunch of mingling and pizza, the group divided again to come up with a chant to support Project Unify. After several minutes of practice, the groups gathered in the auditorium to perform the chants and partake in the closing ceremony where all leaders and educators gathered to empower each other in creating mass inclusion with Special Olympics.
