Winterfest was this month, on the night of Saturday, February 13th. Catawba students, dates, and guests showed off their fancy dress and fancy steps at the winter semi-formal dance. Lights were strung up to shine down upon the close-knit student body during the night before Valentine’s Day. Attendees enjoyed shaved ice and delicious finger foods, like mozzarella sticks and sweet treats, like cookies. Blue and silver snowflakes twinkled all around the entrance to the gymnasium, where the real fun was.
The floor glowed alight with the bright colors of the DJ’s LEDs. Balloons and streamers bordered the dance floor, while music-loving students packed their way into the center. Opposite the amazing DJ that kept the energy flowing the entire night was a photo booth where students could get photos with costume props in front of a snowy backdrop. People could mingle with words and food in the hall, or with music and movement on the dance floor. With lights, music, food, and a general aura of freedom and joy, this year’s Winterfest was a bass-pounding success, with fellow Catawbans dancing without cares and Wobble-ing and Dougie-ing late into the night.
