It was a cozy Friday night when Catawba’s Student Center looked very similar to Harry Potter’s Great Hall. Christmas lights were turned on and hung up all across the ceiling and made students feel the holiday spirit arriving. Several tables were set up close to one another in order for students to mingle and get to know each other. Approximately 97 students participated in the special Blanket Bingo night presented by Wigwam Productions. Every student was asked to present his or her student ID, sign in, and grab a Bingo Card.
Refreshments and snacks were offered for free. There was CapriSun with available flavors such as lemonade and fruit punch. Students kept coming to the snack table and grabbing the popular chocolate striped fudge cookies. Prizes ranged from Catawba blankets, to gift certificates, and one huge grand prize. The blankets were very popular amongst many student winners. There were a variety of colors of the blankets like orange, blue, and yellow. The grand prize was a Go Pro Hero 3.
Catawba’s Bingo night was extremely special and had more than a homey feeling to it. Faculty members were even spotted at this fun event. Dr. Clapp made an appearance and so did a cute puppy. Socialization was at an all time high and everyone looked to be having a ball with his or her buddies. This night was one of the many nights that showed what a family Catawba College really is. Everyone was laughing, eating, smiling, and enjoying life at this little event at our school.
The final round of Bingo ended with a two-way tie with two ladies. They were told to play rock paper scissor shoot as a tiebreaker in order to be rewarded with the incredible Go Pro. Lauren Gaskill was the winner of the tiny gadget and had a huge smile on her face.
