The Philomathean Blackout was hosted by the Philomathean Society. It was a campus wide event for all day students to participate in for free. The Blackout is an event which resembles a rave. It was held in the cafeteria at night with the windows blacked out. Members of the society set up the event putting up black lights, lasers, and strobe lights. There was also a DJ brought in to play music for the event. There was free food, drinks and t-shirts available for the students as well.
When the doors opened, many students in brightly colored neon clothes entered into the Blackout. By the time doors had closed, over two hundred and twenty five students had partaken in the Blackout. One student said, “The Blackout this year was awesome and will definitely be going again next year!” when asked their thoughts about this year’s event.
The Blackout ended around one in the morning when the lights were turned on and the music turned off. Thus ending a wonderful event hosted by the Philomathean Society, and leaving students excited for next year’s Blackout and the fun it will bring.
