Thursday November 20, Catawba College hosted a packing party for Operation Christmas Child. If you don’t know what Operation Christmas Child is, it is a mission to give needy children around the world a Christmas present while sharing the word and love of God! Catawba had a goal to fill at least 400 shoe boxes. But Thursday night we came up a little short with only filling 377. Even though we didn’t reach our goal, 377 shoe boxes is still a wonderful amount.
But the community and Catawba didn’t think it was all we could do so by Monday November 24, Catawba had 428 shoe boxes filled and on top of that, we had collected some from the community. In the end, Catawba College turned in 1,010 gift filled shoeboxes to Operation Christmas Child. If you did not participate in the packing party this year, I strongly suggest that you come out next year and pack at least one shoebox. It’s a fun activity to do with your friends while giving back.
