Every year, Catawba participates in the Operation Christmas Child shoebox project. This is a service project in which shoeboxes get filled with little presents for needy children around the world.
As students and faculty members, there are several ways to participate in this wonderful service project. One can simply donate, join in on the packaging process, or buy items to gift the children with.
There are several shoeboxes available for anyone and everyone to pack up for these children. These are available in the Student Affairs office, the Shuford Science Building room 206, and the Registrar’s office. Inside each of the boxes, a brochure will be found, including instructions as to pack the shoebox. The boxes are due the week of November 17-21.
At 7 pm tomorrow, November 20, there will be a little party in the Student Center with several students/faculty helping pack these boxes. Contributions of small toys, candies, school supplies, etc. are greatly appreciated and are more than welcomed. In addition, monetary donations are as well. If anyone would like to make a donation, contact Jan Gillean in the Student Activities office.
This is an amazing event to participate in, especially with the holidays just around the corner. It’s a great way to help the children in need and have fun with fellow students. Come out and join in on the fun this Thursday night.
