This year, the Catawba Spanish Club is undergoing some particular changes in the way the group operates. Club President Chase Loudin says he is excited about the upcoming improvements. “We have a mission to understand the language and culture better, while allowing student members to build a connection with the Spanish teachers and other faculty at Catawba,” he states enthusiastically. “We’re also here to have fun meeting new people and talking about our passions.”
Chase also emphasizes that the club has something to offer the entire school with these new reformations. “Our goal is to have one big event per semester each year, now.” The first of these events will be this Tuesday, October 20th. The Spanish Club is hosting a Fiesta in the student center at 7:30, with games, food, and fun for all. The free food will include churros, empanadas, and a nacho bar.
Sometimes college can cause students to feel disconnected from the outside world, swamped with the prospects of grades and homework, degrees and fear of failure. The Spanish Club is there to help you remember that our little town isn’t the only thing that life has to offer.
