The CW has been looking to create another hit TV series with devoted viewers in addition to their shows Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries. The CW decided to hop onto the zombie bandwagon that has been infecting everyone in all sorts of media lately. iZombie is The CW’s attempt at joining in on this plague that is infiltrating the world.
iZombie is the story of a medical student, Olivia “Liv” Moore, who was invited to a boat party where a new designer drug was released that caused everyone on the boat to become zombies. The plot of the show follows her life after she has died and come back as a zombie.
The viewer finds out that Liv has quit her job at the hospital and gone to work in the morgue, so that she can satisfy her craving for brains. When Liv eats brains, she starts to develop personality traits from the person the brain came from and uses this ability to help out a new homicide detective who thinks she is a psychic. Liv’s boss finds out that she is a zombie and ends up wanting to help her try and cure the disease that caused her to become a zombie in the first place.
AMC’s The Walking Dead is a popular zombie series and is relatively serious compared to iZombie, which takes a more comedic stance on the subject. The show is based off of a comic book series with the same name and is written by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred.
