Getting up and getting ready for school in the morning can be a hassle, especially if you’re running late.  But getting ready to go to class in college can be way different compared to getting ready for high school.  Coming to college can be a big adjustment because you can’t do what you would usually do if you were at home. Living in a freshman dorm you share everything — well not everything; but, you get it, you share a room, the bathroom, and the washers and dryers.

I asked some girls on my hall how hard it was to get ready in a dorm room on a scale from one to ten and most them answered around the five to six range. Many said that it’s not that difficult but that, “it’s just the bathroom,” and I totally agree.

Students advised waking up a little earlier to be able to get in the shower because they fill up really quickly in the morning with everybody having to get ready to go to class. Getting to the sinks is way worse though because you have girls trying to brush their teeth, do their hair, etc. and it’s only five sinks in the bathroom.

It’s not all that bad, you just have to figure out a schedule for yourself and you should be fine. I also asked some girls with roommates how it feels to have to get ready for the day with someone else in the room. Some said it could be awkward and some said it doesn’t really bother them at all. I guess it depends on the relationship you have with your roommate.  One girl on my hall that I spoke with, said that she tries to be very quiet and respectful when she gets ready for class because she has to get up earlier than her roommate and she doesn’t want to disturb her, which I totally understand all the way.

Getting ready for class in a freshman dorm isn’t all that bad. You just have to adjust and make your own schedule and be quiet sometimes while getting ready, but other than that, you’d be surprised how fast you could get ready for class if you’re running late.
