First Special Olympics College Organization at Catawba
catawbapioneerstaff September 20, 2015 0 COMMENTSThe smile of a child with special needs is one to adore. For many years, Special Olympics programs have spread throughout the nation and advanced in several ways. The Special Olympics program is one to grow with someone for a lifetime, whether it’s the athlete themselves or someone volunteering. Since the establishment of Catawba College, there has not been a specific club on our campus which primarily focuses on facilitating and volunteering with the Special Olympics of North Carolina. Several professors have bought the opportunity to volunteer, but never to start a club. Putting forward the time and dedication, a Catawba College sophomore took the initiative to become a founder and run this organization on the Catawba College campus. While partnering with the Special Olympics of North Carolina, the SOC (Special Olympic College) club has been working non-stop to make Catawba a project unified school and host inclusion programs to create interaction with Special Olympics Athletes and current Catawba students. Without holding up any more time, it is a pleasure to announce that students who have a dear connection with Special Olympics will now have the opportunity to volunteer and help with something that they love. May this be the best first year of Catawba Special Olympics College.
