Family weekend was a huge success at Catawba. It kicked off Friday night with the pep rally for our first home game. There the families got a dose of how much spirit this school has. They saw everything from the cheerleaders to the Catawba Marching Band and got to share school spirit with their students.
It continued Saturday morning starting with the tailgate with the president and faculty. Here families gathered for food, fun, and fellowship; and then they got to enjoy our first home football game. I talked with President Lewis about his thoughts on Family Weekend at Catawba; and President Lewis said he likes it because, “It’s a chance for us to share the Catawba Experience with families and get to translate what their students experience regularly with their parents.”
It wrapped up Sunday morning with a Sunday service in the Chapel. The families got to experience the beauty of the Chapel; and they also got to listen to the Catawba Singers perform the music for the service directed by Dr. Burgess.
Kayla Guffey, freshman, had her parents visiting from Clemmons, NC. They are excited to see her and when asked what Family Weekend meant to her. She said, “Family Weekend. a.k.a. parents bring food weekend.”
