For just one dollar you can make a huge difference by participating in duck draw. Every year, Student Affairs and Residence Life staff members coordinate Duck Draw. The funds raised during duck draw by students, faculty, and the community go to needy local families and make Thanksgiving dinner possible for them. Last year, 133 families were fed.
Catawba College has provided nearly 1,500 families with meals for Thanksgiving over the past 10 years. It is a great way to help the community. The fun part of all of this is that for donating you can get something in return too! I’m not saying you should give just because you will get something in return, but it makes the fundraiser more exciting knowing you can win some prizes!
In the Cannon Student Center, a blow up pool is normally placed after raising the funds with little plastic ducks. On each duck there is a number displayed with a number that is on certain tickets that you receive once you purchase one.
Duck Draw is a great way to help out with the community, come join in, it is a great way to do something good for others and yourself!
