Diversity Club seeks to create greater community and campus involvement in discussing prevalent events.  Anna Fields and Ashley Bain, the organizers of Diversity Club, have stated that they would like to become Safe Place certified.  In order to be certified, one must go through the training provided by National Safe Place (http://nationalsafeplace.org/) which includes learning about the history of Safe Place, setting up and maintaining a program, learning procedures, outreaching toward the community, volunteering, partnering with other local organizations, and funding further development.

Some of their main objectives for Diversity Club are to form a close knit group that can support each other in an effort to get the community talking about the diversity of humanity. During an average meeting, the Diversity Club organizers, Anna and Ashley, implement a discussion about the differences of opinions on various current, usually social, issues.  Some of the topics that have been either discussed, or could potentially discussed this semester include domestic violence, PRIDE, bullying, and the legalization of Marijuana.

Diversity Club is trying to expand by going to various social outings to increase awareness of the club. Some of these outings have included the Big Baer Halloween Carnival, going to the student rush night showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Lee Street Theater, and potentially going to Salisbury Pride this summer. However, there is an issue since the Salisbury Pride festival is held during the summer months when many members of Diversity Club and other students will not be in Salisbury and thus not be able to attend due to distance.

Diversity Club meets every other Wednesday at 6pm.
