The semester is winding down to a close, and many students across campus are scrambling for some kind of foothold in the deadlines to come. Between papers, projects, and personal commitments, activity is at a peak before it tapers off for the holidays. Luckily for the students at Catawba, they have a chance to get work done, study, and snag some relaxing downtime outside of the same four walls they have seen all semester.
This Wednesday night, December 2nd, the Writing Center is hosting a Write-In, an international event that has been utilized in almost 90 different colleges and universities where students from all parts of the campus are invited to gather, write, work, and relax for a few hours. The doors open at 7pm and don’t close until late—one AM Thursday morning!—so everyone can find some way to fit it into their schedule.
Every part of Catawba’s Write-In was planned with the students in mind. With different rooms available for different working styles and purposes, and free coffee, there’s really not a reason to choose studying alone in a dorm room. Snacks, giveaways, Chick-Fil-A, and Writing Center tutors will be available during the night. Dr. Margaret Stahr is looking forward to the event, stating that “the Write In seeks to connect writers on campuses, but also writers to other campuses.” The event actually has an international hashtag: #IntlWriteIn.
Come on to the second floor of Admin this Wednesday night, and find your rhythm to finish off this semester on firm footing!
