It’s that time of year again where Catawba College’s clubs and organizations begin to recruit new members. One organization that has already gotten started is The Blue Masque, which is the theatre club on campus that has been around for over 85 years.

Last week, The Blue Masque had its first general meeting (there was another meeting for freshmen and transfer students held during orientation week), and this year’s board, which was established last semester, outlined the upcoming club events for September. At this time they also had each grade level elect their own senators, who will be responsible for helping out with each event and with Blue Masque shows.

“Blue Masque Olympics”began yesterday and will go on throughout the rest of the week. Even though the group is already getting things started this year, they have not stopped accepting members. The fee to join is $10, and that covers the cost of most Blue Masque events. If you want a Blue Masque hoodie, however, it will be an additional $20. Dues are not due until September 5th, the day of the club’s annual Jell-O fight, held outside the Hedrick Little Theatre at 5:00 in the evening. These dues can be given to The Blue Masque treasurer, Hannah Lee, by dropping an envelope containing the money and your name in her campus mailbox #951. If you are buying a hoodie, you should also include your hoodie size.
