Salem,VA— Over the weekend Catawba College’s track team went to the Finn Pincus Invitational, hosted by Roanoke College. Catawba athletes won three events and set seven new school records.

Catawba men’s team set two new records Saturday. Braxton Ford broke Catawba’s record in the 600 meter dash with a time of 1:27:42. Rashaun Noble broke the Catawba record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.65.

Darius Turner grabbed a win in the 60 meter dash with a time of 6.97.

Catawba women’s team set five new school records Saturday. Mekayla White set the long jump school record with a leap of 5.25 meters, and also set a new school record in the triple jump with a leap of 10.94 meters. Maddie Bohannon captured a school record in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.33. Lexie Petty joins White and Bohannon by collecting two new school records in the 600 meter dash with a time of 1:52:15 and in the 1000 meter dash with a time of 3:22:91.

The women posted a win in the 3000 meter dash with Hannah Mercer running a time of 10:47.19, and Mekayla White in the triple jump with a leap of 10.94 meters.

Both teams performed really well this past weekend. A number of records were broken and great promise was shown. The Catawba Indians will compete again next weekend February 1-2, at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina at the Camel City Invite.
