The clubs offered at Catawba allow for a variety of culture, entertainment, and volunteer opportunities. As well, they allow students with a particular interest to join other like-minded people. The Anime and Video Gaming club blends both Japanese animation and literature with American video gaming to create an all-encompassing multimedia group.

Members of the group discuss favorite television shows, movies, books (mainly manga), and video games that the club or students unassociated might find enjoyable. The club hosted their first events of the year the weekend of Friday, October 4 and Saturday, October 5 playing the 2014 reboot of the classic monster movie, Godzilla. The following night, the A&V club hosted their first public gaming night with the Slenderman horror game. Many students attended both nights and expressed satisfaction with the events.

The group is organized by Nichole Rosati (President), Karla Segura (Vice-President), Galavia “Jay” Blackwell (Secretary), and Elizabeth Overman (Treasurer). Together, they wish to promote a healthy, safe environment where people can openly express their joy of anime, books, and video games and want to have a great time doing it.
