Here at Catawba, there is someone new joining the family. Formally a UNCG Alumni, Taylor Currie has become the new cheerleading coach. Taylor has 10 years of experience with cheerleading.
She heard about the job opening from her fiancé TJ Wharton, a former baseball player for Catawba. When he mentioned it, she knew that it was a perfect fit because of how much she loved the school. It also seems that the cheerleading team has welcomed Taylor into the Catawba family with the same enthusiasm.
Taylor knew it was her calling, and she promises to bring in new ideas for the team as well as a new attitude toward the cheerleaders. Taylor admits she’s concerned that she won’t be able to change the way people view the cheerleaders, but she hopes people will see that it is a new team with a new kind of attitude. Taylor is pushing the girls to be their very best, so by September 10th they’ll be ready for their debut under a new coach. She holds the cheerleaders accountable and has high expectations for them. So get ready for a bigger, “badder,” and better team because they’ll be ready to show you what they can do.
